Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux Tasting - The Small Winemakers Collection

Date: Apr 19/12, Thu     Time: 05:30:00-07:00:00     Style: Drop-In

Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux - We were delighted to have Toronto wine merchants the Small Winemakers Collection (SMW) at the Reserve for the first time. They presented our members with an exclusive opportunity to taste wines from the domaine of Arnoux-Lachaux in Vosne Romanee. The tasting will include village and 1er cru wines from various recent vintages between 2005 and 2008.

It's often said that, in Burgundy, the spring makes the quantity and the fall makes the quality. 2008 was a perfect example. A wet August threatened disaster, but a cool north wind from the middle of September not only saved the harvest but turned it into a textbook Burgundy vintage. Wines are pure and terroir-driven, and they have the rare combination of ripe phenolics, ripe acidities plus good concentration. But you be the judge.

Pascal Lachaux, son-in-law of the late Robert Arnoux, now runs this prestigious estate. He produces wines of extraordinary elegance, power and charm with a character that have been described as a downsized version of DRC. The estate owns plots in some of the most important 1er Crus and Grands Crus of the Cote de Nuits. Under Pascal’s energetic stewardship, the domaine has soared to new heights. They have continued the minimal intervention of Robert, and initiated a fully organic and biodynamic approach. In 2008 Pascal and Florence Lachaux formally changed the name of the estate to Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux. The wines are highly sought-after and sold on a strict allocation from year to year.
