Wine Insurance

Wine Insurance - Some clients prefer to insure the wines they have stored with us under their own homeowner's policy. For this reason, your wines are NOT automatically insured at our facility. Others have insurance providers who will not insure wine stored off site, or the coverage is inferior and/or expensive. For this reason we have developed a custom wine insurance program called "Cellar Protect". The program is administered by Cornerstone/Pottruff & Smith Insurance Brokers and underwritten by Intact Insurance – two respected names in insurance. "Cellar Protect" will cover any collection stored at our facility (large or small) at very reasonable rates. For example, $25,000 of replacement value coverage costs less than $10 per month, and the relative cost decreases as the amount of coverage increases (to a low of $0.28 per $100 per year). For those who opt into the Cellar Protect program, your wines will be covered against spoilage, fire, theft, vandalism, sewer back-up, earthquake and flood, among other things. In-Transit Insurance - All client wines are automatically insured up to $250,000 while in transit by our personnel. Higher limits are available upon request (48 hours notice required).

Warehouseman's Legal Liability – The Fine Wine Reserve maintains a multimillion dollar Warehouseman's Legal Liability policy (WLL). Please be aware: Like all WLL policies, this type of insurance only protects us (i.e. the storage provider) and not the wine owner. Don't let your provider mislead you into thinking otherwise. Collectors are strongly encouraged to apply for our Cellar Protect program if their homeowner's policy doesn't already cover wines stored offsite.

Business Insurance – The Fine Wine Reserve maintains a multimillion dollar general insurance policy that helps protect our company, our facility and our employees. The liability policy also covers our activities while we are working in our customer's homes. A Certificate of Insurance is available upon request for our clients, and for restoration, relocation and other organizations who subcontract our services.

WSIB Insurance – Fine Wine Reserve employees are covered by Workman's Compensation. A WSIB Clearance Certificate is available upon request.
