Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Tasting – We were honoured to have Peninsula Ridge Estate Winery launch their 2006 Single Vineyard Series Sauvignon Blancs at the Fine Wine Reserve this evening.

2006 Sauvignon Blanc, AJ Lepp
2006 Sauvignon Blanc, Wismer Vineyards
With producer, grape, and vinification held constant, this was a really unique opportunity to compare and contrast the wines, and then reflect on the importance of terroir.

Winemaker of the year in Ontario in 2006, Jean-Pierre Colas was our guide. Prior to joining Peninsula, Jean-Pierre was head winemaker at the notable Chablis House, Domaine Laroche. While at Laroche, Jean Pierre was honoured with Wine Spectator Magazine’s 1998 White Wine of the Year award for his 1996 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos.
Turns out Jean-Pierre is not only an accomplished winemaker, but a highly engaging speaker - we were riveted by his words.
Truly a spectacular evening, and one of my all time favorites at the Reserve.
