Rustenberg Wine Tasting -
Murray Barlow, Winemaker/owner, of Rustenberg Wines, joined us for a tasting of his newest releases.
Rustenberg is one of the most beautiful wine estates in South Africa. Minutes from the centre of Stellenbosch, it sits nestled at the foot of the Simonsberg mountain.
But Rustenberg isnt merely beautiful, it also ranks in South Africas winemaking elite. Established in 1682, the modern renaissance at Rustenberg began in the 1980s, with a large scale replanting of the vineyards, followed by sweeping renovations to the winery and the hiring of new viticultural and winemaking teams.
As Wine Spectator observed, "Rustenberg has all the qualifications of a world-class wine estate: a long history of winemaking… and ideal terroir, with deep-red, clay-rich granite soils that are located on a variety of slopes and elevations."
Rustenberg has achieved tremendous critical and commercial success, and today the celebrated estates bottlings are among South Africas most iconic and sought-after wines.
