Maison Henri Boillot Burgundy Tasting - Artisanal Wine Imports
Date: Dec 10/07, Mon Time: 04:00:00-07:00:00 Style: Drop-In
Maison Henri Boillot Burgundy Tasting - Artisanal Wine Imports in cooperation with the Fine Wine Reserve presented a special selection of 2005 whites from Maison Henri Boillot.
Here’s what Allen Meadows (www.Burghound.com) had to say about the 2005 Burgundies:
“The best 2005s are simply sublime Burgundies that will be capable of being exceptionally long-lived. Each level of the Burgundian hierarchy transcends its usual quality category and ascends to the one directly above...the best wines will easily see 50 years in fine shape. 2005 is quite simply the best top to bottom vintage that I have ever seen, period, full stop. It is a brilliant vintage with virtually nothing to dislike...but don't miss the best wines of the vintage or you will I believe live to regret it."
The line-up for this tasting of 2005 Premier and Grand Cru White Burgundies was absolutely stunning:
Chassagne-Montrachet, Baudines
Chassagne-Montrachet, Chenevottes
Meursault, villages
Meursault, Poruzots
Savigny Les Beaune, Les Vergelesses
Puligny-Montrachet, Clos de la Mouchere
Criots-Batard-Montrachet
Montrachet
Also available for sampling were a few earlier vintages for comparative purposes including:
2004’s:

2002’s:

Wow, what a line up.
Over 70 people attended this Premier and Grand Cru tasting over several sessions. The word of the evening: “acidity!”
To top it off, the hat was passed around and $1805 raised for “Grapes for Humanity”.
